Generations of meanders in Serbian part of Tisa valley

Abstract: This study discusses the evolution of the Serbian part of Tisa (Tisza/Theiss) valley in the context of phase meandering process during the Late Pleniglacial and Holocene. This study is focused on the subsiding central part of the Pannonian (Carpathian) Basin in the Vojvodina province. Palaeomeanders are reconstructed by using digital elevation models. Large number of old river beds are eroded and filled with deposits, and only a few remainings of them can be found on modern maps. The identification of these ch… Show more

“…Bank erosion and lateral channel migration are the most important geomorphologic processes in the alluvial plain in the southern part of the Pannonian Basin [13][14][15][16] and Eastern Carpathians [17][18][19][20][21]. Bank erosion in the Serbian territory is one of the most dynamic and sensitive geomorphologic processes which are currently not being performed for the whole territory, as fluvial and geomorphologic studies in post-Yugoslavian countries are quite rare.…”

“…Ő a Tisza legdélebbi szakaszát kísérő ármentes térszínt -a Duna szerinte azonos korú teraszához hasonlóan -II/a számmal jelölte.
