Generation of stable penta-wavelength ytterbium doped fiber laser by spatial-mode beating in 1-µm waveband

Abstract: Penta-wavelength ytterbium doped-fiber laser had been successfully generated by usingspatial mode beating method at room temperature. A G652D premium fiber patch cable was inserted inside the polarization controller (PC) and connected to an ytterbium-doped fiber ring cavity. By increasing the pump power, stable multi-wavelength with side-mode suppression ratio (SMSR) from 25 dB to 40 dB were obtained from dual-wavelength and up to penta-wavelengths respectively.
