“…In addition to the oxidation of alcohol and formic acid in fuel cells, graphene and Pt alloy nanocomposites also find applications in PEMFCs (Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells), which used as electrocatalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). 423 ORR plays an important role in the electrochemistry of fuel cells, particularly in PEMFCs and PEFCs. 424 In a recent study, HRG/Pt nanocomposites prepared with perfluorosulfonic acid (PFSA) as functionalization and anchoring agent, were applied as electrocatalyst for ORR.…”

“…For example, Rizo et al 34 studied ORR on stepped Pt surfaces in alkaline media, the Pt (111) surface exhibited a consistent "double waves" in all its ORR spectra. Also, Yue et al 35 observed the same phenomenon in a study on the generation of OH radicals by Pt alloy catalysts in alkaline media. From the RDE plots (Fig.…”

“…In addition to metal nanoclusters, much work has been done on the synthesis of graphene-supported monometallic (Au [53], Pt [54][55][56][57][58], and Pd [27,59]) or metal alloy (PtPd [33,36,60,61], PtRu [62][63][64], PtAu [12,28,35,65], PdAg [66,67], PtFe [68,69], PtCo [14,70,71], PtNi [72][73][74][75], PtPdAu [76,77]) NPs and their electrocatalytic activities for fuel cells [42]. Among the alloy nanostructures, PtRu NPs have received special attention because of their high catalytic performance as both anodic and cathodic catalysts.…”
