Generalized Coupled-Line All-Pass Phasers

Abstract: Abstract-Generalized coupled-line all-pass phasers, based on transversally-cascaded (TC), longitudinally-cascaded (LC) and hybrid-cascaded (HC) coupled transmission line sections, are presented and demonstrated using analytical, full-wave and experimental results. It is shown that for N commensurate coupled-line sections, LC and TC phasers exhibit N group delay peaks per coupled-line section harmonic frequency band, in contrast to the TC configuration, which exhibits only one peak within this band. It is also … Show more

“…A hybrid configuration based on the combination of a CCS and a CCL configuration, known as hybrid cascade (HC) coupled-line phaser was recently proposed in Ref. [34]. This set of three cascading configurations, CCL, CCS, and HC, represent the fundamental cascading schemes upon which more complex phasers can be constructed, leading to vast variety of coupled-line all-pass phasers with rich and exotic dispersion characteristics.…”

“…The key component of a R-ASP system is the phaser [1], [2] 1 , a device providing specified group delay versus frequency response depending on the application, e.g. linear for real-time Fourier transformers [3], staircase for spectrum sniffers [4] and Chebyshev for dispersion code multiple access (DCMA) [5], [6].…”
