“…study agreed withLi et al, 2022, Lin CH et al, 2022Doba et al, 2016. That frail elderly show low levels of self-e cacy; elderly with high coping self-e cacy is associated with lower odds of pre-frailty/frailty even with chronic disease. On the other hand, dispositional Optimism -by de nition-is the generalized, relatively stable tendency to expect good outcomes across important life domains(Scheier et al, 2018).…”

“…Coping self-e cacy is a domain-speci c concept of con dence to cope effectively with di culties in the areas of problem solving, emotional regulation and obtaining support from one's social network (Chesney et al, 2006). This is especially important in addressing "frailty identity crisis" along the life course of frail elderly, thus in uence easy transitioning and alleviate unpleasant drawbacks (Li et al, 2022). Self-e cacy is malleable and was successfully targeted in health-related interventions, making it a potentially useful intervention goal for the treatment of frailty.…”

“…Previous studies have explored the mediating relationship between negative psychology and behaviour in diabetes distress. 33 Older patients with DM experiencing high levels of diabetes distress exhibit more pronounced negative psychological factors associated with their disease compared with those with significantly lower levels of diabetes distress. These individuals tend to employ ineffective coping strategies in response to feelings of loneliness and engage in suboptimal health promotion behaviours.…”

“…For example, according to Volz et al (2018), patients from two German inpatient rehabilitation centers who believed in their GSE to deal with adversity in new and stressful situations were less likely to manifest depressive symptoms after stroke. In another study conducted by Li et al(2022), patients who were 60 years or older and had higher overall self-efficacy were found to be less vulnerable to experiencing fragility, possibly because older adults were generally better able to adapt to stress and changes in life optimistically. Research conducted by Chen et al(2019) has also shown that strong views about managing stress or overcoming obstacles in life were typically held by students who exhibited high levels of GSE when it came to creating learning objectives, choosing resources, and self-evaluation.…”
