General results for higher spin Wilson lines and entanglement in Vasiliev theory

Abstract: We develop tools for the efficient evaluation of Wilson lines in 3D higher spin gravity, and use these to compute entanglement entropy in the hs [λ] Vasiliev theory that governs the bulk side of the duality proposal of Gaberdiel and Gopakumar. Our main technical advance is the determination of SL(N) Wilson lines for arbitrary N , which, in suitable cases, enables us to analytically continue to hs [λ] via N → −λ. We apply this result to compute various quantities of interest, including entanglement entropy ex… Show more

“…A major motivation of this work was to identify universal CFT predictions for local quenches in such situations, which can then be examined and studied using holographic dual descriptions. Much is now understood about holographic entanglement entropies in the higher spin setting [39,40,46,47]. The main outstanding question in this context is whether a holographic description of the local quench can be made precise in the higher spin dual to a CFT with W-symmetry, both with and without chemical potential deformations.…”

“…We then have 20) where the z dependence is immediately fixed by rotational symmetry on the disk. To close this section, we should also mention that the most intuitive explanation for the form of the Wilson line comes from thinking about the AdS 3 /CFT 2 correspondence, and in particular from the fact that AdS 3 gravity is equivalent to SL(2)×SL(2) Chern-Simons theory; actually, these constructions originated in higher spin extensions [25][26][27][28]. Asymptotically AdS 3 solutions of Einstein's equations (which are all locally AdS 3 since there are no dynamical degrees of freedom) are recast as flat connections.…”
