General Physics: Mechanics and Molecular Physics

Abstract: The book covers a very wide area of physIcs in what the authors call an aUmpt "to acquaint the reader with the principal phenomena and most important laws of physics". However this acquaintance can hardly be deep or critical for the book of 372 pages has somethmg to say about a rather wide vanety of topics. Naturally enough oDe misses very often a discussion or mathematical treatment which can in any sense be called complete. Yet if anybody hkes to have an idea of say classical mechanic-ii, classical field the… Show more

“…It is assumed that all moisture will be evaporated, which reflects the experimental results (Yoschenko et al, 2006). This is described with the second term, q(1 ÿ Dry)M S S t , where q denotes the energy for the evaporation of the moisture from the fuel mass unit, J kg ÿ1 , which is calculated using the specific heat for water, 4200 J kg ÿ1 K ÿ1 , and the specific evaporation heat, 2.26 Â 10 6 J kg ÿ1 (Landau et al, 1969):…”

“…Obviously, considering the resuspended radioactive particles of ash, resin, water and non-burned rests of the fuel material, we have to take into account their sedimentation due to the gravity force, mg. On the other hand, the Stokes resistance force also acts on the moving particles. This force is expressed as (Landau et al, 1969) …”
