General low energy dynamics of supersymmetric monopoles

Abstract: We derive general low energy dynamics of monopoles and dyons in Nϭ2 and Nϭ4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories by utilizing a collective coordinate expansion. The resulting new kind of supersymmetric quantum mechanics incorporates the effects of multiple Higgs fields, both in the Nϭ2 vector multiplet and hypermultiplets, having non-vanishing expectation values.

“…This observation, due to Tong [7] and elaborated on in many other papers, has led to a determination of explicit potentials for several dyon systems in SU(3) Yang-Mills-Higgs. The general structure of the effective action, and its supersymmetric extension, has been derived in a series of papers by Bak et al [8,9] and Gauntlett et al [10,11].…”

“…This was first studied in [5,6,7] in the case that only a single adjoint Higgs field has a non-trivial expectation value. It was then generalized in [24] to the case that both of the adjoint Higgs in the vector multiplet have non-vanishing expectation values. In [24], the low-energy dynamics was also derived when additional scalar vevs in the hypermultiplet are turned on.…”
