Gene-Metabolite Expression in Blood Can Discriminate Allergen-Induced Isolated Early from Dual Asthmatic Responses

Abstract: Some asthmatic individuals undergoing allergen inhalation challenge develop an isolated early response whereas others develop a dual response (early plus late response). In the present study we have used transcriptomics (microarrays) and metabolomics (mass spectrometry) of peripheral blood to identify molecular patterns that can discriminate allergen-induced isolated early from dual asthmatic responses. Peripheral blood was obtained prior to (pre-) and 2 hours post allergen inhalation challenge from 33 study p… Show more

“…In addition to pathways enriched in differentially expressed genes (Wnt, Notch, Serine biosynthesis; Evgrafov et al, 2017), we found that PI3K-Akt signaling has been identified as important in multiple studies of SCZ (Mao et al, 2009; Panaccione et al, 2013; Singh et al, 2013; Topol et al, 2015; Mulligan and Cheyette, 2016; Howell et al, 2017; Wang et al, 2017). Pathway analysis of GWAS data, performed by The Network and Pathway Analysis Subgroup of the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium (2015) showed enrichment of several GO terms, associated with neuron structure and histone H3-K4 methylation.…”

“…An obvious question that is of great concern to City officials is: Are SIFs an efficient and effective use of financial resources? This issue is of critical importance because of the recently established more restrictive rules made by the Federal government in order to establish a supervised injection facility [12,13]. …”

“…Consequently, research examining the cost-benefit and cost-effectiveness characteristics of SIFs is very limited [13]. The first published economic analysis of the SIF portion of Insite considered a complex dynamic compartmental simulation model for the City of Vancouver as a whole and projected new HIV and hepatitis C infections over a 10-year time horizon with and without Insite [15].…”
