Gene Expression Profiling of Human Kidneys Undergoing Laparoscopic Donor Nephrectomy

Abstract: Background and Objectives: The objective was to compare gene expression profiles of 6 kidneys from open donor nephrectomy with 6 kidneys removed after laparoscopic donor nephrectomy and several hours of carbon dioxide pneumoperitoneum with DNA microarrays and identify small-molecule drugs.

“…Furthermore, nephrectomy can activate immune cells in the spleen (Lukacs-Kornek et al, 2008 ). In human kidney donors, the activation of cytokine signaling pathways through STATs and SOCS has been shown to occur (Xu et al, 2014 ).…”

“…Luteolin was observed to decrease sorbitol accumulation in the rat lens under high-sorbitol conditions ex vivo via high inhibitory activity against AR and may be used as natural drugs for treating diabetic complications [36]. Luteolin was also identified as the small-molecule drug during identifying the differentially expressed genes including ESR1 in kidneys undergoing laparoscopic donor nephrectomy [37]. The protein expression of GSTP1 was mainly dominated by AhR pathway and luteolin inhibited the expression of drug-metabolizing enzymes by modulating Nrf2 and AhR pathways [38].…”

“…ESR1 is essential for sexual development and reproductive function and also responsible for bone growth and maintaining normal functions of the cardiovascular and nervous systems. ESR1 mutations or abnormal expression are associated with tumor onset and excessive in ammatory response, and study suggests that luteolin might regulate acute in ammation in renal injury through affecting the expression of ESR1 48 . It is worth noting that the CRP/ALB ratio is a relevant biomarker that re ects microvascular permeability, and CRP/ALB ratio has a strong correlation in assessing cohn's disease activity, analyzing the risk of acute myocardial infarction and predicting mortality in hemodialysis patients [49][50][51][52] .…”
