This study examines @quranreview's interpretation of Qur'anic verse QS. al-Nisā' [4]: 34 on social media, focusing on the words used to convey meaning. Interpreting the Qur'an on social media is often simple and direct, as it involves exploring the meaning of verses through individual comments. However, this approach needs to improve in that it can sometimes overlook the central message of the verse due to its focus on individual words. Discovering the tendency of word choice in interpreting the Qur'an contributes to developing interpretation in social media. Through a qualitative analysis using critical discourse analysis by Teun A. van Dijk, we found that @quranreview deliberately chooses representative words to challenge the traditional interpretation of the verse, which can be discriminatory towards women. The study highlights the importance of careful word choice in interpreting the Qur'an on social media, especially when dealing with sensitive and controversial topics. It also suggests that @quranreview's tendency to glorify women in its interpretation can contribute to a broader and more nuanced understanding of the text.

This research paper examines the complex interplay between language, feminism and social expectations through the sociolinguistic analysis of “TED talk ‘We Should All Be Feminists’ by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie,” taken as a sample. The dialogues used in the talk were transcribed. The study explores the use of the Nigerian English dialect in Adichie’s talk, highlighting its cultural authenticity and the effect of language on propagating feminist ideals. Through descriptive and qualitative methodology, the study challenges conventional gender norms expressed in the speech, shedding light on social variables such as language use, culture, power dynamics and gender inequality. Besides this, the paper focuses on reshaping social expectations and abandoning gender discrimination. It contributes significant insights into gender studies and linguistics, underscoring the vitality of language in social progress and in shaping feminist discourse. Hence, comprehending the power of language to shape perspectives enables one to foster inclusivity and challenge biases. Therefore, this study is crucial for advocating social change and empowering individuals to reshape and challenge entrenched gender norms. Overall, this research highlights universal issues of social justice and gender stereotypes. It ensures solidarity in the struggle for gender equality globally by examining the intersection of feminism, language and culture.

A través de etnografía una digital y un análisis multimodal del discurso se identificaron en grupos latinoamericanos de Facebook las formas en las que se expresan discursos transfóbicos en las modalidades verbales y no verbales de posts y memes en redes sociodigitales, que sirvan para dar cuenta de las tramas comunes presentes en el lenguaje peyorativo. Los datos mostraron la presencia de discursos transfóbicos en comentarios y memes los cuales se organizaron como estereotipos y prejuicios a partir de las posturas de los interlocutores. Los datos permitieron formular cinco registros que sirven para analizar la transfobia expresada en redes sociodigitales, los cuales organizaron el discurso como deshumanizante, biologicista, psicologista, cientificista y paternalista. Se concluyó que en comunidades virtuales existe un rechazo hacia las personas trans que se expresa por medio del uso de lenguaje peyorativo en sus modalidades verbal y no verbal, mismo que configura discursos de odio en diferentes niveles.
