Ge(Li)-Ge(Li) coincidence studies of the decay of 109Pd

Nuclear states of109Ag and111Ag

“…These authors have been able to observe 28 gamma transitions in l~ of energies up to 868 keV in general agreement with those recently reported by BERZII~S et al [2] and GRAEFFE and GORDON [3]. However, some discrepancies are noted particularly among excited states of energies greater than 415 keV which require further investigation.…”

The present energy levels in t~ together with the suggested J= values are eompared as given in Table VI with data reported by G•AEFFE and GORDO~ [3], BEaZIr~S et al [2] and SCHICK and TALBEaT [1]. Although there is a general agreement yet on aeeount of the additional information aehieved in this investigation, partieularly with eoneern to the new gamma transitions as well as the coincidence and directional angular cor~ relation measurements, one can mainly point out the following:…”

“…a) The level at 1099 keV previously reported by BERZINS et al [2] on the basis of the gamma transitions 1010 and 966 keV populating the 88 and 133 keV states in l~ respectively, is supported by observing the new additional transitions 790 and 402 keV suggested to feed the well known 311 keV state and the newly proposed state at 697 keV, respectively.…”

“…A list of energies and relative intensities of the l~ gamma observed in the present investigation as well as those reported by BEaZINS et al [2] and Table I. It is to be noted that these transitions have been detected in singles spectra except the 44 keV transition which only appears in coincidence measurements.…”

“…c) The level at 840 keV reported only by GRAWFFE and GORDON[3] on account of observing 707 keV gamma rays in coincidence with 45 keV transition had been denied by BERZI•S et al[2] who could not confirm this coincidence. The latter authors had then indicated the possibility of a level at either 707 or 795 keV depending on whether the 707 keV gamma rays proceed to the ground state or to the first excited state.…”
