Gaugino condensates andD-terms from D7-branes

Abstract: We investigate, at the microscopic level, the compatibility between D-term potentials from world-volume fluxes on D7-branes and non-perturbative superpotentials arising from gaugino condensation on a different stack of D7-branes. This is motivated by attempts to construct metastable de Sitter vacua in type IIB string theory via D-term uplifts. We find a condition under which the Kähler modulus, T , of a Calabi-Yau 4-cycle gets charged under the anomalous U (1) on the branes with flux. If in addition this 4-cyc… Show more

“…In general, we expect the same kind of results at both sides of the mirror map. This is easy to see for some quantities like the gauge kinetic function, which in the type IIB case reads [67,78] fig. 3.b)) and in type IIB can be computed from the overlap of three wavefunctions, just like for heterotic compactifications in the large volume limit.…”

“…It turns out that somewhat novel stringy instanton effects which have recently been investigated in several other contexts [32,33,34,35,36,37,38] contribute corrections to W which depend on gauge invariants that usually do not appear in the superconformal quiver superpotential. Recall that these effects arise when Euclidean D branes wrap cycles corresponding to quiver nodes which are not occupied by space-filling branes.…”
