Abstract: A novel technique for minimally invasive band removal after adjustable gastric band migration is described, offering the patient a low-risk procedure and a better chance for further laparoscopic approaches.

“…With an average 50% of excess weight loss after 2 years, LAGB might be a simple, fast, and reversible procedure for obese patients, preserving anatomy. Beside these well-known advantages, the occurrence of complications including band slippage, pouch enlargement, oesophageal dilatation, and portspecific complications has brought in question the longterm efficacy of the procedure [6,12,13,21,22]. Theoretically the reversibility of the procedure could be offered to a patient with a sufficient and stable weight loss, after a testing period where the band is totally deflated.…”

“…Also, port site infection has been reported to be the first symptom of erosion, 22 as seen in some of our patients (Table 1). Although 1 study (23 pregnancies in a series of 359 patients) reported that pregnancy after adjustable gastric banding was not associated with severe complications, 23 band migration after pregnancy has occurred in other studies, 24,25 and severe vomiting in early pregnancy has been hypothesized to be the cause of band migration. 25 Two of our patients (no.…”
