Abstract:In a 58-year-old woman presenting with abdominal pain,
high fever, palpable purpuric rashes, and melena
Henoch-Schönlein purpura was diagnosed. She had a
history of diarrhea attack throughout 3 days which lasted
2 days before admission to our hospital. Blood culture
yielded Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteremia. The patient
was successfully treated with prednisone and ceftriaxone.
This is the first case of Henoch-Schönlein purpura
which is causally linked to Klebsiella pneumoniae.
