Gastric Pyogenic Granuloma Detected due to Abdominal Symptoms and Treated with Endoscopic Resection

Abstract: The patient was a 35-year-old man who felt persistent hunger pain for five months. Upper gastrointestinal scope studies revealed a 20-mm polypoid lesion located in the middle body of the stomach. The pathological diagnosis revealed a granuloma in the biopsy specimens. The eradication of Helicobacter pylori had no effect on the patient's abdominal symptoms. Ultimately, the polypoid lesion was resected using endoscopy, and the patient was relieved of his hunger pain. The final diagnosis was a pyogenic granuloma … Show more

“…[13][14][15] miR-145 represses mediators of EMT, such as insulinlike growth factor 1 receptor (IGF1R), fascin-1, and paxillin, to suppress cell proliferation and metastasis in colorectal cancer. [16][17][18] Importantly, miR-145 is also an essential component of the p53 regulatory network. 19 p53 is a critical repressor of c-myc mediated through miR-145 induction.…”

“…Pyogenic granuloma involves the mucosa, extends to the submucosa, and presents as a polypoid, strawberry‐red excrescence 18,20 . On CT, pyogenic granuloma of the stomach displays strong enhancement by contrast medium 19 . Based on our review of the literature, no study has reported on pyogenic granuloma of the stomach in dogs.…”

“…18,20 On CT, pyogenic granuloma of the stomach displays strong enhancement by contrast medium. 19 Based on our review of the literature, no study has reported on pyogenic granuloma of the stomach in dogs. In this study, pyogenic granuloma was found to form symmetric thickening lesions that involved both the mucosa and outer layers.…”

“…Other presentations are rarely reported and depend on the anatomical location of the PG. For instance, esophageal lesions can present with dysphagia [ 13 ], stomach lesions as gastritis [ 26 ], small intestine lesions as intussusception [ 25 , 27 ], or rectum lesions as tenesmus [ 28 ]. Four (8%) patients were asymptomatic and their PG lesions were found incidentally.…”
