“…The differential diagnosis should include gastric gland heterotopias, duplication, submucosal cystic gland, gastritis cystic profunda, lymphoepithelial cyst, hypertrophic pyloric stenosis, and gastic cancer [2,[6][7][8][9]. Despite the development of newer diagnostic techniques including CT and endoscopic ultrasonography, preoperative diagnosis of adenomyoma is difficult.…”

“…It was first described by Magnus-Alsleben in 1903 and, up to 19 77, 3 3 further cases were reported (Lasser & Koufman 1977). To our knowledge, since then only a few additional cases had been reported (Taub & Horsburgh 1980, Floros et al 1982. The lesion is composed of smooth muscle, cysts and glandular structures lined by tall columnar epithelium, sometimes with Brunner's glands and pancreatic tissue.…”

“…However, specific problems have been described, such as obstruction (17)(18)(19), bleeding (20), perforation (21), biliary fistula (22), and heterotopic pancreatitis with resulting pseudocyst (23), and gastric duplication (24,25). Most individuals affected are middle-aged adults, and there is no obvious gender predilection (9).…”
