Gas Turbine Performance Forecast and Assessment: GE LM2500 in Outlook

Abstract: The generation of electric power is presently dominated by gas turbine (GT) power plants in Nigeria, as is the drift globally. This is due to gas turbine low carbon footprint, high power to weight ratio, and high efficient energy utilization in combined cycle configuration. The gas turbine operates off-design on leaving the manufacturer’s shelf. The information on gas turbine performance is relevant for the effective operation and maintenance of these plants. Design focus and performance off-design of the GE L… Show more

“…Near-the-wall area had a detailed resolution with the use of prismatic elements having the following parameters: number of prismatic layers-11, initial height of the prism-0.002 mm, growth law-wb-exponential (Figure 4). After splitting the channel into several surfaces, it is possible to proceed with the determination of the heat transfer coefficient αi, which is determined in accordance with Equation (1).…”

“…Gas turbine units of various power classes have found wide application in the energy generation, the oil and gas sector, and a number of other industries [1][2][3]. An essential part of any modern gas turbine is the cooling system [4][5][6].…”

“…After converting a portion of high-temperature thermal energy to electricity, the topping cycle transforms the rest of the high-temperature energy to the low-temperature cycle. In the bottoming cycle, a share of this thermal energy is transformed into electricity, while the remainder is discharged to the atmosphere [6,7]. Since electricity is produced by two components in the combined cycle, applying WHR can boost the efficiency of the overall system [8].…”
