“…H 2 SO 2 and its isomers have been extensively studied by ab initio theory. ,− The consensus that has emerged from these calculations is that the lowest-energy structure is sulfoxylic acid (HOSOH) with C 2 symmetry, followed by another sulfoxylic acid rotamer with C s symmetry, which lies only slightly higher in energy (∼1.3 kcal mol –1 ).
