Gas permeation through DDR‐type zeolite membranes at high temperatures

Abstract: in Wiley InterScience (www.interscience.wiley.com).DDR-type zeolite membranes were prepared by the secondary growth method on porous a-alumina disk, followed by on-stream counter diffusion chemical vapor deposition modification to eliminate the intercrystalline micropores. Single gas permeation of He, H 2 , CO 2 , and CO through this zeolite membrane before and after CVD modification was measured in 25-5008C. Intracrystalline diffusivities for these four gases in DDR-type zeolite were obtained from the permeat… Show more

“…126 Lin and co-workers have used the CVD technique for postsynthesis modification of MFI and DDR-type membranes. 88,[127][128][129] For small non-adsorbing molecules like H 2 and CO 2 , the transport is governed by Knudsen diffusion. Thus, plugging of large intercrystalline defects by CVD using a molecule like methyldiethoxysilane (MDES) or TEOS increases the H 2 /CO 2 separation factor.…”

“…[1][2][3][4][5][6] So far, various types of supported zeolite layers, such as MFI, 7,8 DDR, 9 LTA, 10-14 FAU, 15,16 CHA, 17,18 and AFI, 19 have been successfully prepared on different supports. Among these molecular sieve membranes, the zeolite LTA membrane is of special interest.…”

“…[1,2] To date, mainly silicatebased zeolite membranes of the structure types MFI, [3] DDR, [4] LTA, [5] and FAU [6] have been synthesized on different substrates and evaluated for single-or multiple-gas permeation. Routes for the synthesis of zeolite membranes can be broadly classified into two categories: [7] in situ and secondary growth synthesis, both of which are derived from the strategy of hydrothermal zeolite synthesis.…”
