At the end of each interval, three beakers were removed from each group and extracted three times with diethyl ether. The ether solutions were dried over sodium sulfate, concentrated on a rotary evaporator, dissolved in 1 ml of heptane, and analyzed for grandlure by GLC according to the procedure of Bull et al (1971).
