This study focuses on the effect of Ag2O/V2O5 substitution on the radiation shielding ability of tellurite glass system with the chemical composition of xAg2O + 40TeO2 + (60 − x)V2O5 with 0 < x < 50 mol%. FLUKA code was successfully employed for simulation the radiation interaction parameters of the glass systems. The results of the simulations were comparable with the predications of theory. Thereafter, several empirical equations were used to study the shielding ability of the glass systems against neutrons and charged particles. The results indicate that linear attenuation coefficient changes with energy and reaches maximum at 0.6 MeV (minimum at 10 MeV) with the values of 0.2806 (0.109), 0.3181 (0.121), 0.3771 (0.1498), 0.409 (0.168), 0.4588 (0.1911), and 0.5162 (0.2180) for x = 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 mol%, respectively. Beyond 5 MeV, the gamma ray constant was found in the order of ( Γ ) x = 50 > ( Γ ) x = 40 > ( Γ ) x = 30 > ( Γ ) x = 20 > ( Γ ) x = 10 > ( Γ ) x = 0 . For all the charged particles, the projectile range was noted in the order of (R)x=0 > (R)x=10 > (R)x=20 > (R)x=30 > (R)x=40 > (R)x=50. Finally, we provide an extensive comparative study between AVT-glass systems and standard traditional materials. The obtained results suggest the sample of x = 50 mol% as the best photon, fast neutron and charged particle shield amongst the present glass systems. Hence, AVT6 could be used in radiation safety applications as a shield.

In this study we have reported the borate-based glasses in the form of (75mol%) for gamma-ray and neutron shielding applications, and for this purpose mass attenuation coefficients (µ m ) of these glasses have been investigated using Geant4 code and XCOM program in the energy range between 1 keV and 10 MeV. A good agreement between the simulation results and computed values was observed. The obtained µ m values were then used to calculate the other related shielding parameters such as half value layer (HV L), mean free path (MFP) and effective atomic numbers (Z ef f ). Exposure buildup factors of the glasses were also evaluated by using the geometrical progression (G-P) method. Additionally, neutron effective removal cross-sections of each selected glass have been computed. The results indicate that the Bi 2 O 3 content in the glass sample affects the radiation shielding properties. It can be concluded that the glass coded as F offers superior gammaray shielding properties, while the glass coded as D offers better neutron shielding features among the other samples.Radiation shielding by using heavy metal oxide (HMO) glasses is a significative field of study [1,2]. Its interest has mushroomed dramatically in the wake of nuclear accidents such as Chernobyl disaster which caused deleterious effects for human being. The conventional materials such as lead-based materials and concretes are inexpensive, high durability and can be cast to any desired shape easily. Clitoria ternatea is a flowering plant with promising medicinal plants with a wide variety of active phytochemicals. The present study aimed at the computational investigation of the nonlinear optical (NLO) responses of the active phytochemicals of the Clitoria ternatea. The computational investigation of the NLO features was done by using the density functional theory (DFT) by B3LYP/6-311G + + (d, p) basis set. The structural parameters, mulliken charge distribution, and molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) surface clearly show the intramolecular charge transfer within Clitorin. The NLO properties were identified by computing the polarizability parameters. As the plant has high medicinal characteristics, the inhibiting properties of its phytochemicals were also investigated to combat Alzheimer disease (AD). The systematic in silico study identifies Clitorin as the most active and inhibiting phytochemicals of the plant. The results obtained from molecular dynamics (MD) simulation tell the stability of the complex and make it a fair selection as a drug-like molecule against AD. The cardio-toxicity analysis done for the Clitorin molecule verifies that it is harmless for the heart.
