Student engagement refers to how actively involved and enthusiastic a student is about their learning process. Engaged students are actively involved in their education, show a willingness to learn, and are motivated to achieve their academic goals. Student engagement is important for learning activities and can be achieved via gamification. In this work, a gamification approach was designed that incorporates game elements such as tournament, teams, multidisciplinary challenges, grading, backward grading, badges, points, and leaderboard. Especially the new game element backward grading is designed to achieve student engagement. The game element grading promotes competitions among student teams. On the other hand, the novel game element backward grading promotes contributions to competitions. The designed gamification setting is applied to an emerging technologies course, and the results show that student engagement is achieved.

Las metodologías de desarrollo ágiles están siendo cada vez más utilizadas en proyectos de desarrollo de software. Entre las diferentes metodologías ágiles más utilizadas destaca la metodología Scrum. Dada la importancia de dichas metodologías, son varias las asignaturas relacionadas con el desarrollo de software y la gestión de proyectos en las que se enseñan y se utilizan. En este artículo se presentan tres asignaturas distintas relacionadas con el Grado de Ingeniería Informática (GII) y el Máster Universitario en Tecnologías Web, Computación en la Nube y Aplicaciones Móviles (TWCAM) donde se ha incorporado la metodología Scrum.

A gamificação é considerada um recurso útil em diversas áreas. Particularmente, entre seus objetivos na educação estão a redução da evasão e o aumento da motivação nas disciplinas e no curso. Por outro lado, muitas das tarefas da disciplina de Engenharia de Software são demoradas e podem, às vezes, ser consideradas repetitivas pelos alunos. Diante disso, este artigo descreve um mapeamento sistemático sobre a aplicação da gamificação no ensino e aprendizagem de Engenharia de Software. As 17 publicações resultantes foram utilizadas para responder às questões de pesquisa propostas e mostraram que a gamificação tem resultados positivos quando aplicada na disciplina de Engenharia de Software.
