Gamification in education revitalizes the teaching of natural sciences through interactive activities, making the teaching-learning process attractive. During the pandemic it was essential to rely on virtual tools as a pedagogical strategy that involves students in the use of digital platforms such as Wordwall, Blooket, and Quizizz, which cause the integration of emotional intelligence motivating the integral development of students. The objective was to analyze gamification as a didactic strategy to strengthen the biology teaching -learning through the use of digital tools, which enhance increasing academic performance. The research was conducted with learners of Unidad Educativa Fe y Alegria, canton Quero, academic performance was evaluated before and after implementing gamification, the perception of students was measured using surveys, the statistically data was processed with SPSS software. The results demonstrate that gamification in the teaching-learning process permits classes to be more attractive and participatory, being the Blooket tool preferred by students since it is associated with motivating emotions such as satisfaction, allowing to improve knowledge retention and academic performance significantly. To sum up, gamification is an innovative and effective pedagogical strategy teaching biology, help the understanding of complex scientific concepts, and promotes collaboration, generating the development of emotional and social skills, which contributes to the integral growth of students.
