Abstract: Diseases caused by high uric acid levels are still commonly found in societies world wide. There is a correlation between uric acid level and increased body mass index (BMI). Higher body mass index in this case overweight and obesity is associated with higher risk of insulin resistance and excessive leptin production which may contribute to hyperuricemia.
