Frequency-modulated Continuous-wave (FMCW) radar is a powerful sensing technology. It is widely used in various applications. This paper presents an in-depth exploration of the FMCW radar signal generation using Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) technology. DDS offers precise and flexible control over the frequency modulation required for FMCW radar systems. The fundamental principles of FMCW radar were delved into in this study, with emphasis placed on the importance of continuous frequency modulation in achieving accurate range and velocity measurements. We discuss the essential components of an FMCW radar system, focusing on the critical role played by DDS in generating the required frequency-modulated signal.
