Abstract. Testbed facilities play a major role in the study and evolution of emerging technologies, such as those related to the Internet of Things. In this work we introduce the concept of modelled testbeds, which are 3D interactive representations of physical testbeds where the addition of virtual resources mimicking the physical ones is made possible thanks to back-end infrastructure. We present the architecture of the Syndesi testbed, deployed at the premises of University of Geneva, which was used for the prototype modelled testbed. We investigate several extrapolation techniques towards realistic value assignment for virtual sensor measurements. K-fold cross validation is performed in a dataset comprising of nearly 300'000 measurements of temperature, illuminance and humidity sensors collected from the physical sensors of the Syndesi testbed, in order to evaluate the accuracy of the methods. We obtain strong results including Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) levels below 7%.

An available infrastructure for testing authentication and authorizationflows is often necessary in the Identity Management (IdM) field.Creating virtual environments for this purpose can result in highcosts in terms of time, effort, and resources required for buildingand maintaining these setups. Thus, GIdLab emerges as a laboratorydedicated to experimentation, provided by the Brazilian NationalEducation and Research Network (RNP). GIdLab offers specializedconsultancy in IdM with a tailor-made experimentation lab thatprovides a set of authorization and authentication infrastructuresand an eduroam environment ready to be used by researchers andsoftware developers. This article aims to describe GIdLab service,its infrastructure, the associated federations, the use of proxies, relatedprojects, identity decentralized testbed, and, finally, the resultsobtained over ten years of supporting experimentation.

This paper presents the design options for creating a Pan-European mobile network for research in the context of the European Horizon 2020 EuWireless project. The most likely direction is a platform that makes it easier to create network slices for research. In this context, we identify one promising technology to implement network slicing in 5G networks: the framework GÉANT Testbeds Service (GTS). GTS is currently a production service by GÉANT that offers remote construction and use of virtual testbeds for wired networks mapped to the real GÉANT infrastructure. These GTS-virtualized testbed environments conform to Software Define Networks (SDNs) principles and offer compute, storage, and switching resources, at scale and with line rate performance. In this paper, we explain how the current (wired oriented) GTS can be extended with the 5G components, such as radio access nodes (gNBs), transport networks, user devices, etc., in order to implement 5G network slices. Our first conclusion is that using GTS for EuWireless implementation is feasible, dramatically increasing the potential impact of this service in the research community.
