A brain tumor (BT) is a condition in which there is growth or uncontrolled development of the brain cells, which usually goes unrecognized or is diagnosed at the later stages. Since the mechanism behind BT is not clear, and the various physiological conditions are difficult to diagnose, the success rate of BT is not very high. This is the central issue faced during drug development and clinical trials with almost all types of neurodegenerative disorders. In the first part of this review, we focus on the concept of brain tumors, their barriers, and the types of delivery possible to target the brain cells. Although various treatment methods are available, they all have side effects or toxic effects. Hence, in the second part, a correlation was made between the use of resveratrol, a potent antioxidant, and its advantages for brain diseases. The relationship between brain disease and the blood–brain barrier, multi-drug resistance, and the use of nanomedicine for treating brain disorders is also mentioned. In short, a hypothetical concept is given with a background investigation into the use of combination therapy with resveratrol as an active ingredient, the possible drug delivery, and its formulation-based approach.

BACKGROUND The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) was first reported in December 2019. Until now, many drugs and methods have been used in the treatment of the disease. However, no effective treatment option has been found and only case-based successes have been achieved so far. OBJECTIVE This study aims to evaluate the COVID-19 treatment options using multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) techniques. METHODS In this study, we evaluated the available COVID-19 treatment options by MCDM techniques, namely fuzzy PROMETHEE and VIKOR. This technique is based on the evaluation and comparison of complex and multiple criteria to evaluate the most appropriate alternative. We evaluated current treatment options including favipiravir (FPV), lopinavir/ritonavir, hydroxychloroquine, interleukin-1 blocker, intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG), and plasma exchange. The criteria used for the analysis include side effects, method of administration of the drug, cost, turnover of plasma, level of fever, age, pregnancy, and kidney function. RESULTS The results showed that plasma exchange was the most preferred alternative, followed by FPV and IVIG, while hydroxychloroquine was the least favorable one. New alternatives could be considered once they are available, and weights could be assigned based on the opinions of the decision makers (physicians/clinicians). CONCLUSIONS We showed the applicability of the MCDM techniques in informing decision makers in choosing the right treatment technique for the management of COVID-19.

Malignant cancer angiogenesis has historically attracted enormous scientific attention. Although angiogenesis is requisite for a child’s development and conducive to tissue homeostasis, it is deleterious when cancer lurks. Today, anti-angiogenic biomolecular receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (RTKIs) to target angiogenesis have been prolific in treating various carcinomas. Angiogenesis is a pivotal component in malignant transformation, oncogenesis, and metastasis that can be activated by a multiplicity of factors (e.g., VEGF (Vascular endothelial growth factor), (FGF) Fibroblast growth factor, (PDGF) Platelet-derived growth factor and others). The advent of RTKIs, which primarily target members of the VEGFR (VEGF Receptor) family of angiogenic receptors has greatly ameliorated the outlook for some cancer forms, including hepatocellular carcinoma, malignant tumors, and gastrointestinal carcinoma. Cancer therapeutics have evolved steadily with active metabolites and strong multi-targeted RTK inhibitors such as E7080, CHIR-258, SU 5402, etc. This research intends to determine the efficacious anti-angiogenesis inhibitors and rank them by using the Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluation (PROMETHEE- II) decision-making algorithm. The PROMETHEE-II approach assesses the influence of growth factors (GFs) in relation to the anti-angiogenesis inhibitors. Due to their capacity to cope with the frequently present vagueness while ranking alternatives, fuzzy models constitute the most suitable tools for producing results for analyzing qualitative information. This research’s quantitative methodology focuses on ranking the inhibitors according to their significance concerning criteria. The evaluation findings indicate the most efficacious and idle alternative for inhibiting angiogenesis in cancer.
