Fuzzy Based Packet Dropping Scheme in Wireless Cellular Networks

Abstract: Wireless multimedia networks are becoming very popular owing to the user demands for multimedia services. Packet dropping in the event of buffer congestion is one of the important issue in wireless multimedia networks. A packet dropping scheme has to be flexible and adaptive such that acceptable quality of an application is maintained. The paper presents a fuzzy based packet dropping scheme for wireless multimedia networks. A buffer manager placed at the base station performs packet dropping depending upon the… Show more

“…Sgore and Vergados [15] studied the detail survey of handoff prioritized channel assignment policy. Mallapur et al [16] considered buffer manager located at the base station using a fuzzy controller such as application priority, queue length and packet size for packet dropping in wireless cellular networks. Iancu 74 AJEAT Vol.7 No.1 January-June 2018 [17] established one of the most accepted centroid defuzzification method for computing the defuzzification.…”

“…For this reason, the utilization of fuzzy logic (FL) has shown to be useful in designing new active queue management (AQM) methods [11]- [16] that can be used to alleviate congestions in wired and wireless networks. For example, Mallapur et al [15] propose buffer manager located at the base station using a fuzzy controller for packet dropping in wireless cellular networks. The controller uses three fuzzy parameters, namely application priority, queue length and packet size.…”
