Fuzzy approach for reactive power control of DFIG-based wind turbines

Abstract: This paper proposes a fuzzy-based method to control the reactive power of DFIG-based wind turbines. Two fuzzy controllers are proposed and implemented to directly regulate the I dr signal. The first controller uses the error signal and its derivative as the fuzzy input variables while the second controllers utilizes the error and the integral of the error as the fuzzy input variables. The outputs of the two controllers are added to generate the d-component of reference current I dr in the d-q frame. The fuzzy … Show more

“…Wind and solar electric power generation systems are popular renewable energy resources and are getting significance due to retreating of primary fuels and because of ecofriendly nature and is available from few kilo-watt power to megawatt rating [1]. The DFIG is getting importance compared to permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) or asynchronous generator because of the operation under variable speed conditions [3]- [5], capability to extract more or maximum power point tracking theorm (MPPT) [2] and fast and accurate control of reactive power [6]- [13], better capability in low voltage and high voltage fault ride through situation, low cost of converters [14], effective performance during unbalanced and flickering loads.…”
