“…Despite its wide and successful applications, and Zyoud et al [45] believe that fuzzy set theory has always been criticized for its inability in handling uncertainty outcomes from relating whole numbers to decision-making's understanding. However, Javanbarg et al [46] mentioned that, in the real world, fuzzy sets are ineffective in their application to ambiguous decision problems. As a result, the combination of traditional AHP with fuzzy set theory is a pivotal technique in dealing with sources of uncertainty, and Taylan et al [47] believed that this combination employs the principles of decomposition, pairwise comparisons, priority vector aggregation, and synthesis.…”

“…An integrated approach of analytic hierarchy process (AHP) improved by rough sets theory (Rough-AHP) and fuzzy TOPSIS method has been proposed to obtain final ranking in performance management system (Aydoğan, 2011). A method has been proposed for transforming a fuzzy prioritization problem into a constrained nonlinear optimization model and several illustrative examples using existing fuzzy AHP methods have been given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method (Javanbarg et al, 2012). Using the revised fuzzy analytic hierarchy process has been introduced a new decision process to include time dependency of decisions and statistical weighting from the standard analysis of variance (ANOVA), via a case study in the selection of wafer slicing and coating process for a three-year operation time (Rajput et al, 2011).…”

“…There are different types of criteria to select the convenient landfill site, but the current study employed two major groups, ecological criteria (geology, the faults, population centers, land use, surface water, groundwater, and conserved areas) and economical criteria (roads and slopes) to select the most suitable place based on the available data and previous researches (9,14,16) Each criterion was prepared as a map from different sources. The land use map, prepared by the natural resources organization of Khorasan Razavi province, then it was digitized and converted to raster format in spatial analyst tool in the ArcGIS term system.…”

“…The potential of representing vagueness or indecisive data in a natural form could be introduced as an important usage of fuzzy set theory (16). This capability of fuzzy logic is used to select landfill site by many researchers (17)(18)(19).…”
