Data centers have operational challenges due to high cooling costs and the necessity of ensuring physical security to keep data safe. The activities of malicious organizations in countries without sophisticated missile defence systems also necessitate enhancing data center security. The expending of significant power for cooling degrades data center power usage effectiveness (PUE). The use of high altitude platform data centers (HAP-DCs) is proposed to address these challenges. The HAP-DC incorporates a location mechanism which ensures that HAP-DCs have a dynamic location making them difficult targets for aerial missiles. The paper also proposes a stratospheric scheduling mechanism to enhance the HAP-DC's PUE. The scheduling mechanism ensures that HAP-DCs sited where the stratosphere has best cooling ability are used for workload execution. Analysis shows that the location mechanism enhances safety against missile threats by at least 6.7% and up to 35.4% on average. The scheduling mechanism enhances the PUE by at least 43.8% and up to 81.1% on average.

Cloud is a distributed access of shared pool of resources that can provide the efficient service on demand basics to cloud user by the service providers. The important functions of cloud computing are storage and computation. The cloud user can use the cloud functions without any computing resources. Because of the popularity of cloud computing, providing security to the stored data is a major concern. In the literature, there are various works which have been proposed to provide the efficient security to the stored data in cloud environment. This paper provides the details of need of security in cloud environment, various categories of security threats, mechanisms, cloud architecture, multi-cloud and various security algorithms in detailed manner. The main attention of this paper is to point out the works on security in cloud computing, show the proposed architecute of multi cloud instead of single cloud and the way for the future work for the efficient design of cloud secure service system.

Cloud computing is being adopted by commercial and governmental organizations driven by the need to reduce the operational cost of their information technology resources and search for a scalable and flexible way to provide and release their software services. In this computing model, the Quality of Services (QoS) is agreed between service providers and their customers through Service Level Agreements (SLA). There is thus a need for systematic approaches with which to assess the quality of cloud services and their compliance with the SLA. In previous work, we introduced a generic method for Monitoring cloud Services using models at RunTime (MoS@RT), which allows the monitoring requirements or the metric operationalizations of these requirements to be changed at runtime without the modification of the underlying infrastructure. In this paper, we present the design of a monitoring infrastructure that supports the proposed method with its instantiation to a specific platform and reports the results of an experiment carried out to evaluate the perceived efficacy of 58 undergraduate students when using the infrastructure to configure the monitoring of cloud services deployed on the Microsoft Azure platform. The results show that the participants perceived MoS@RT to be easy to use, useful, and they also expressed their intention to use the method in the future. Although further experiments must be carried out to strengthen these results, MoS@RT has proved to be a promising monitoring method for cloud services.INDEX TERMS Cloud computing, models@runtime, quality of service (QoS), services monitoring, software as a service (SaaS).
