As an intermediary between the "mysterious land" and Pierre Loti, the exotic woman who embodies the essence of a civilization is a recurring theme in his works. From the particular point of view of an exotic writer and military officer, his accounts of Chinese society in this "mysterious land" and, in particular, his description of the "exotic woman", the Chinese woman, in this particular context of violence and other otherness, will play a significant role in relation to "everything that is different, strange, exotic". The representatives of the more vulnerable group "the Chinese woman" present a complex image in the work : tragic, mysterious, courageous, fairy-like, etc. These vivid and concrete female characters describe to the reader a real world of horrors that accompany the war. Through the concept of the stereotype and the journalistic approach, this article aims to show how, between the novelistic imagination, the artistic approach and journalistic writing, the image of a diverse group of women is revealed.
