Abstract:Recibido el 3 de enero de 2006; aceptado el 30 de marzo de 2006 We discuss the influence of the break-up process of stable weakly bound nuclei on the fusion cross section and on the elastic scattering at near barrier energies. The complete fusion for heavy targets is found to be suppressed at energies above the barrier, whereas this effect is negligible for light targets. The total fusion cross sections are not affected by the break-up process. The non capture break-up is the dominant process at sub-barrier en… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
