Fungal mediated synthesis of silver nanoparticles and evaluation of antibacterial activity

Abstract: Nanoparticles as biomedicine has made a crucial role in health biotechnology. Different transition metals in various forms playing role in nanotechnological advances and biological applications. Silver as one of the nontoxic, safe inorganic antibacterial agents and can serve as replacement of antibiotics. Present research is based on biogenic synthesis of silver nanoparticles (Ag‐NPs) as potential antibiotics from fungal metabolites of Penicillium oxalicum. We used different analytical techniques X‐ray diffrac… Show more

“…Such characteristics of fungi make them appropiriate for industrial scale biosynthesis of NPs (Foster, Woodruff, & McDaniel, 1943; Granchinho, Franz, Polishchuk, Cullen, & Reimer, 2002; Nadeem et al, 2018). Within fungal groups, Penicillium possess medicinal and antimicrobial activities due to penicillin production that is used as antibiotics (Barabadi, Ovais, Shinwari, & Saravanan, 2017; Feroze et al, 2020; Foster et al, 1943). The advantage of Penicillium over plant extracts and beneficial microbes is its extensive occurance in nature.…”

“…Biofungicides also reduce the risk of developing the pathogen resistance (Iravani, 2011). With the advent of nanotechnology, scientists are working on the use of nanoparticles (NPs) to inhibit the growth of different pathogens (Feroze et al, 2020). NPs can be characterized by scanning electron microscopy and other techniques (Deng, Zhang, Jiang, Ma, & Mao, 2019).…”

“…Characterization of synthesized AgNPs was performed by using different material characterization techniques to explore their morphologies. SEM JEOL 7500F HRSEM was used to manifest the size and shape of silver nanoparticles, and the colloidal mixture was dropped on a copper grid, dried with filter paper and images were captured on different voltages and powers of the microscope (Feroze et al, 2020).…”
