Fungal diseases of three aromatic rice (<i>Oryza sativa </i>L.)

Abstract: Seeds of three aromatic rice (Oryza sativa L.) var. Kalijira, Kataribhog and BR 34 Jira dhan were tested by Blotter method for identifying their seed borne fungi. Fungi associated with seeds were Aspergillus niger, Apergillus sp., Carvularia sp., Cladosporium sp., Colletotrichum sp., Fusarium sp., Pyrenochaeta oryzae and Sarocladium oryzae. Infected samples were collected from the field starting from maximum tillering stage to grain filling stage of plant growth. After maximum tillering stage three fungal dise… Show more

“…Thirty samples with sheath rot symptom was examined to detect the causal agent. Pathogen was isolated from the infected sheaths and grains following Blotter method and Tissue Planting method on PDA medium (Shamsi et al 2010). Microscopic observation of the fungus was recorded on cover slip culture of the fungus.…”

“…The collected seed samples were kept in polythene bag with airtight container in two conditions, one in room temperature (25°C) and other in refrigerator at 4ºC temperature for subsequent use. Fungi associated with cotton seeds were isolated following 'Blotter' and 'Tissue Planting' methods (Shamsi et al 2010). The experiment was conducted in the laboratory of Mycology and Plant Pathology, Department of Botany, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.…”
