Following the recommendations of the NCCLS (Washington 1991), 9.4% of the strains had a pattern which included the group A antibiotics tested and 7.3% of group D. Hence, in spite of the high percentage of resistant strains found among the psychrotrophic NFGNBs occurring on lettuce and tomatoes, less than 10% had the complete MZ-TI-GM (group A) pattern or the complete NX-CZ (group D) pattern. However, it is worth noting the high percentage of strains which were resistant to chloramphenicol (80.9%), the only group C antibiotic tested.…”
