Functionalization of Ti substrate with pH‐responsive naringin‐ZnO nanoparticles for the reconstruction of large bony after osteosarcoma resection

Abstract: After bone tumor resection, the large bony deficits are commonly reconstructed with Ti‐based metallic endoprosthesis, which provide immediate stable fixation and allow early ambulation and weight bearing. However, when used in osteosarcoma resection, Ti implant‐relative infection and tumor recurrence were recognized as the two critical factors for implantation failure. Hence, in this work, a novel zinc oxide nanoparticle decorating with naringin was prepared and immobilized onto Ti substrate. The drugs deliver… Show more

“…Shifting of peaks was observed at 1639 cm −1 and 1446 cm −1 which are attributed to the stretching frequencies of C = O and –C = C– (aromatic) bond. Peak at 1080 cm −1 is the stretching vibration of –C–O– (polyols) groups of Naringin in NAR-ZnO-BCD NPs (Yang et al 2020 ). The peak shifting observed in the absorption frequencies of C = O and –C–O– bond indicated the interaction of these functional groups with the surface of ZnO-BCD NPs (Fig.…”

“…The data are representative of several experiments performed in duplicate and expressed as the mean ± standard error, where (*) represent when P ≤ 0.05 loaded with β-cyclodextrin and five drugs (Quericitin, Ceftrixon, Naranjin, Amphotericin B and Ampicillin). These formulations were characterized using a range of techniques such as zeta potential analysis and zeta sizer, UV-visible, FTIR, AFM as previously described (Gagoś and Arczewska 2010;Ethiraj et al 2014;Catauro et al 2015;Liu et al 2015;Diaz-Uribe et al 2016;Kalaiselvi et al 2016;Kavitha et al 2017;Mushtaq et al 2017;Reddy et al 2020;Kadam et al 2020;Kaur et al 2020;Yang et al 2020;Sathishkumar et al 2021). ZnO-NPs were synthesized using direct precipitation method and upon successful formation coupled with β-cycldextrin.…”

“…Ti-naringin-3-carboxyphenylboronic acid (PBA)-zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles reduce infection and tumor recurrence and induce Saos-2 osteosarcoma cells apoptosis through activation of ROS/ERK signaling. In vitro cellular experiments showed that these nanoparticles could promote the proliferation and growth of osteoblasts ( Yang et al, 2020 ). Nevertheless, in vivo experiments are required for understanding the anticancer properties of Ti-Naringin-PBA-ZnO nanoparticles in osteosarcoma.…”
