“…[ 13 ] As it is well known, the periodate oxidation reaction led to a specific cleavage of the C2—C3 bond in (MCC), resulting in the generation of active aldehyde groups in the polymeric chain. [ 18 ] As it was previously revealed, [ 12,13,15 ] the appearance of a new specific peaks (Figure 3b) at 880 and 1734 cm −1 , which is consistent with the reported periodate cellulose FTIR spectra. [ 6,14,19,81 ] The obvious peak at about 1734 cm −1 proved that the aldehyde groups have been introduced into the (MCC) structure by periodate oxidation.…”

“…As mentioned in our recent works, [ 12,13,15 ] the FTIR spectrum of (MCC) (a) illustrated in Figure 3a exhibits characteristic peaks: C–O–C glycosidic ether bands at 1105 cm −1 , CH 2 rocking vibrations at 1315 cm −1 , OH stretching frequencies at 3200 cm −1 , and C–C ring breathing at 1053 cm −1. [ [ 15,80 ] ] In addition, the methylene group stretching was observed at 2900 cm −1 and water molecule presence at 1648 cm −1 . [ 13 ] As it is well known, the periodate oxidation reaction led to a specific cleavage of the C2—C3 bond in (MCC), resulting in the generation of active aldehyde groups in the polymeric chain.…”
