Functionality Tuning in Hierarchically Engineered Magnetoelectric Nanocomposites for Energy-Harvesting Applications

Abstract: The β-phase of the copolymer poly(vinylidene fluoride–trifluoroethylene) P(VDF–TrFE) possesses the highest dipole moment among all the functional polymers. It remains a key component of flexible energy-harvesting devices based on piezoelectricity and triboelectricity in the last decade. However, the quest for P(VDF–TrFE)-based magnetoelectric (ME) nanocomposites with enhanced ferroelectric, piezoelectric, and triboelectric properties remains elusive. The magnetostrictive inclusion in the copolymer matrix fo… Show more

“…The incorporation of magnetic domains in friction layers is an additional source for repulsive forces in substitution to conventional mechanic restoring forces and in the induction of electric potential in copper-based electrodes 5 . Several applications have been explored for these materials such as the use in tilt sensing systems, noncontact mode TENG by the action of an external magnetic field 6 , or for magnetic field detection 7 .…”
