Functional warp-knitted fabrics with integrated superelastic niti filaments

Abstract: We report on a particular direction of currently conducted extended research on novel textiles with integrated thin metallic filaments made of an intermetallic shape memory NiTi alloy exhibiting functional behaviour such as superelastic deformation up to 10% and a thermally induced shape memory effect. Within this research direction we focus on development of single and multi-layered warp-knitted fabrics that are directionally reinforced with superelastic NiTi filaments. First, we describe the expected propert… Show more

“…The switching time between multiple let-off amounts is accurately measured in this experiment using LMS test. Lab software, the speed signal of the spindle motor and warp motor, and tension sensor signal are transmitted to the two speed interfaces and the acceleration interfaces [13]. The sampling period and sampling frequency are appropriately selected to accurately determine the switching time between varied let-off amounts [14].…”

“…Any further distribution of this work must maintain attribution to the author(s) and the title of the work, journal citation and DOI. stockings and bandages [6,7], more flexible and adaptable bra bones for underwire bras, seatbelts that increase the wearer's safety in car crashes [8], improved cushioning pads [9], etc. For the most part, shape-memory garments with nitinol incorporated into woven or knitted fabrics facilitate shape recovery through human body heat or heat during ironing.…”

“…In some of the published studies, the compression behaviors of composites reinforced by knitted spacer fabrics have been examined [3][4][5][6][7]. These composites were produced based on an unsaturated resin.…”
