Functional rat bladder regeneration through xenotransplantation of the bladder acellular matrix graft

Abstract: Objective To determine the decreased antigenicity of the capacity were higher in the hamster BAMG-grafted animals, whereas in vitro contractility and compliance bladder acellular matrix graft (BAMG) through xenotransplantation and to assess the in vivo and in vitro were best in the dog BAMG-regenerated bladders. All grafted bladders had significantly better capacity and functional properties of the rat urinary bladder thus regenerated.compliance than the autoregenerated bladders after partial cystectomy alone.… Show more

“…Bladder substitution to create a low pressure reservoir may be indicated in patients with severely thick and fibrotic bladder wall. Scaffolds, probably of tissue-engineered material for bladder augmentation or substitution or alternative techniques, are promising future options (216,(259)(260)(261)(262)(263)(264).…”

“…Additionally, in vivo functionality of hamster, rabbit and dog bladder ECM grafts demonstrated partial detrusor regeneration with improved compliance and functional capacity in augmented rat bladders when compared to a partial cystectomy bladder in controls. 22 Encouraging results were also observed in a porcine model. Multilayered bladder growth was seen at 1 month and included urothelium, angiogenesis and organized smooth muscle.…”
