“… 31 Alzahrani and Alamri reported that 70% of hospitalized older adult patients were malnourished or at risk of malnutrition, with low levels of albumin and hemoglobin. 32 A systemic review conducted by Torres-de Araújo et al 33 identified factors associated with decreased physical activity and disease progression among older adult patients, including sarcopenia, age increase, sex (female), low family support, and high level of dependence in daily living. The consequences of malnutrition have been investigated in previous research, highlighting that malnutrition increases the incidence of sarcopenia.…”

A falta de interação social com familiares e amigos pode ter um impacto negativo na saúde mental do idoso (12), agravando o seu isolamento e potenciando a ocorrência de estados depressivos (13).…”

“…9,11 The prevalence of mobility limitations is approximately 58%, 4 with a considerable increase for institutionalized older adults probably due to a sedentary lifestyle, low income, and nutritional deficiencies, which predisposes older adults to falls, intensification of the frailty process, functional capacity deterioration, and death. [2][3][4]12 Nonetheless, most studies involving older adults were carried out in developed countries 3,13 and with community-dwelling individuals. 4 Furthermore, mobility is represented in these studies as a consequence of geriatric syndromes and not as the primary study purpose.…”
