Functional Characterization of Hedychium coronarium J. Koenig MYB132 Confers the Potential Role in Floral Aroma Synthesis

Abstract: The R2R3-MYB transcription factors (TFs) play several key roles in numerous plant biological processes. Hedychium coronarium is an important ornamental plant well-known for its elegant flower shape and abundant aroma type. The floral aroma of H. coronarium is due to the presence of a large amount of terpenes and benzenoids. However, less is known about the role of R2R3-MYB TFs in the regulatory mechanism of floral aroma production in this breed. Herein, we isolate and functionally characterize the R2R3-MYB TF … Show more

“…CsMYB45, CsMYB46, and CsMYB105 were localized in the nucleus of tobacco epidermal cells, which was consistent with previous findings [ 65 , 66 ]. Relevant studies have shown that the growth of E. coli cells’ overexpressing genes with interest is one of the methods to validate gene function [ 67 , 68 ].…”

“…Consistent with this, we found that foliar Zn spray had significant effects on various rice-specific transcription factors in our investigation, such as MH11g0026200 ( WRKY ), MH11g0318400 ( bHLH ), and MH06g0666100 ( MYB ) were significantly upregulated ( Supplementary Figure 1 ). A previous study also reported that the MYB/bHLH transcription factor also regulates floral scent metabolism by binding to enzyme promoter regions and supports our results (terpene synthases) ( Deluc et al, 2006 ; Reddy et al, 2017 ; Abbas et al, 2021 ). Furthermore, rice plants overexpressing OsMYB48-1 had greater levels of OsP5CS1 and OsP5CS2 expression and accumulated more proline during drought conditions ( Xiong et al, 2014 ).…”

“…It has been demonstrated that FaMYB10 regulates carbohydrate metabolism interacting also with other TFs such as FaMYB44.2 [12,64]. However, the strongest correlation of FaMYB10 was noted with FaNES expression (0.824, p < 0.001), which might denote involvement of FaMYB10 in the regulation of terpenoid biosynthesis as other R2R3-MYB TFs do [65]. We also observed a significant but low positive correlation (0.288, p = 0.034) with FaEOBII.…”
