Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Fatigue Scale (FACIT-Fatigue): Cognitive Debriefing in Patients with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL)

Abstract: Introduction: The FACIT-Fatigue is a 13-item patient-reported outcome instrument (PRO) that was designed to assess fatigue-related symptoms and impacts on daily functioning. This study assessed the content validity of the FACIT-Fatigue in patients with CLL to help determine if it is fit-for-purpose in this population. Methods: Forty adults with first-line (1L) or relapsed or refractory (R/R) CLL took part in an interview study comprising concept elicitation and cognitive debriefing. All particip… Show more

“…52 Validity Content validity in patients with CLL has been ensured with concept elicitation and cognitive debriefing interviews. 58 Reliability When tested in patients with mixed-diagnosis cancers, internal consistency (Cronbach alpha = 0.93 to 0.95) was acceptable (> 0.7). 54 In the same population, test-retest reliability was established using ICC of baseline and 3-to 7-day retest scores (r = 0.89).…”

“…The final score in the FACIT-F for HRQoL ranged from 0 to 108, with higher scores indicating a better HRQoL. In addition, for the fatigue scale, the score ranged from 0 to 52, with a higher score reflecting less fatigue (19). The FACIT-F has been tested and validated in various diseases, treatments, and condition (18).…”
