Abstract: Bacterial ribosome hibernation factors sequester ribosomes in an inactive state during the stationary phase and in response to stress. The cyanobacterial ribosome hibernation factor LrtA has been suggested to inactivate ribosomes in the dark and to be important for post-stress survival.
