Function and activity in patients with knee arthroplasty: validity and reliability of a German version of the Lysholm Score and the Tegner Activity Scale

Abstract: This study demonstrated acceptable psychometric performances for the Lysholm-G and the Tegner-G scales as outcome measures for patients with TKA. A short version of the Lysholm score without the "locking" and "instability" items might be more appropriate for TKA patients.

“…[ 27 ], the TLKSS total score was categorized as: excellent (>90 points), good (84 - 90 points), fair (65 - 83 points) or poor (<65 points). Although this score was designed for patients undergoing reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament, it has already been used to evaluate knee arthroplasty with acceptable results in terms of reliability [ 28 ].…”

“…Cronbach’s α values of 0.7–0.95 were deemed to be adequate [ 27 ]. To assess absolute reliability, the standard error of measurement (SEM) and smallest detectable change (SDC) were calculated [ 28 ]. Limits of agreement (LoA) and systematic bias were assessed using Bland–Altman plots [ 29 ].…”

“…The IKDC-SKF has been translated into Chinese version (IKDC-SKF-C) and validated by Fu and Chan[ 8 ], and now the IKDC-SKF-C is commonly used in the Chinese community to measure the knee function from patients’ perspective. The Tegner Activity Score, a useful instrument to document self-reported activity level, has been translated into different languages[ 9 , 10 ] and culturally validated in German and Iranian population [ 11 , 12 , 13 ]. However, no validated Chinese version is available.…”
