Full Polymer Dielectric Elastomeric Actuators (DEA) Functionalised with Carbon Nanotubes and High-K Ceramics

Abstract: Dielectric elastomer actuators (DEA) are special devices which have a simple working and construction principle and outstanding actuation properties. The DEAs consist of a combination of different materials for the dielectric and electrode layers. The combination of these layers causes incompatibilities in their interconnections. Dramatic differences in the mechanical properties and bad adhesion of the layers are the principal causes for the reduction of the actuation displacement and strong reduction of lifet… Show more

“…Research on this crucial topic is emerging and holds great promise for the transducer technology. [38][39][40][41][42][43] Of all the properties considered for Fom, the EBD, though ideally an intrinsic material property, is often compromised as a result of elastomer processing, electrode geometry and transducer operating conditions. [44][45][46] age, which is due to post-curing.…”

“…For most DEAs, carbon powders had been widely used as stretchable compliant electrodes for large deformations [47,48,49,50]. Since the compliant electrodes of the pouch of the BSPA remained the same, we exploited commercially available aluminum foil as a compliant electrode in this research.…”
