This case report discusses the phases of prosthodontic rehabilitation, from diagnosis to final treatment, of a 38-year-old female (bruxer) with the past medical history of GERD. Stomach acid regurgitating into the esophagus or oral cavity can lead to a chronic condition known as the Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) which is often a prominent cause of heartburn. The two common oral manifestations of GERD are tooth erosion and wear. There was a loss of anterior guidance and subsequent reduction of the vertical dimension. Increasing the vertical dimension was planned using an occlusal splint. Once the adaptability of the new vertical dimension had been confirmed, the final reconstruction was initiated. When planning multiple long span posterior restorations, a properly constructed occlusal plane is an essential consideration. A simple occlusal plane analyzer has been customized and used to assist the operator in the development of an initial mandibular occlusal plane.

“…The Broadrick occlusal plane analyzer(BOPA) has only been adapted to a few articular system as it is an expensive instrument which limits its use universally [1], [4] .Some of the articular system that uses Broadrick occlusal plane analyzer is the Denar Anamark Fossae and all models of the Hanau articulators [1] .As not many articular systems support the flag and also for the manufactures of the semi-adjustable articulators who do not provide with such flag, a custom made Broadrick flag could be used [1] .The flag could be constructed with the use of clear acrylic resin with several modifications to the semi-adjustable articulator [1] . Such instrument that often is used to achieve an occlusal equilibrium for full mouth rehabilitation cases is the Broadrick Occlusal Plane Analyzer. Also known as BOPA, this is instrument has only been adapted to a few articular system which limits its use. Oligodontia is the congenital absence of six or more permanent teeth, excluding the third molars. Oligodontia of permanent dentition is a rare occurrence. Preservation of the remaining deciduous dentition in such situations is important for both functional and esthetic rehabilitation of the patient. This clinical report describes the rehabilitation of a 16-year-old male with oligodontia of permanent teeth treated by an interdisciplinary team of prosthodontist, pedodontist, and orthodontist. The remaining deciduous dentition was endodontically treated. Occlusal vertical dimension (OVD) of the deciduous dentition was assessed. A full-mouth single piece porcelain-fused-to-metal telescopic prosthesis for the maxillary and mandibular arches was planned with a minimal increase in OVD. The telescopic prosthesis provided excellent retention, stability, esthetics, and stress equalization on the remaining deciduous dentition. Maintenance of oral hygiene procedures was simplified for the adolescent with the telescopic prosthesis. Preservation of remaining deciduous dentition and fabrication of a telescopic prosthesis in this patient provided an effective esthetic and functional rehabilitation.
