“…Models that have used row NIR absorbance spectra were not so efficient in predicting (R 2 P < 0.5; results not presented), so instead of the NIR absorbance spectra was used the set of spectra presenting first derivative of it and the partial least squares (PLS) used in prediction of the content of phenolic compounds is modeled from NIR spectra first derivate (using the regions that have proven to be significant: 1095-1256; 1347-1392 and 1591-1678 nm). The optional number of latent variables was estimated using the random subset cross-validation method (Pascoa et al, 2013;Sarraguca & Lopes, 2009) followed by the calibration of the models with the calibration set using the estimated number of latent variables. The independent set is then projected onto these models yielding the prediction set results.…”
